Olive and James found a deer skeleton in the woods and yesterday she brought it in to get a closer look. One of the gifts God gave me this past year was a fresh perspective and renewed love for motherhood that had been dimmed by health issues, postpartum anxiety and rage, and not enough time in prayer and the word. Three years ago I would have said there’s no way I could homeschool Olive. “We fight too much”, “we would just butt heads”, “she’s too strong-willed”, etc., were all the reasons I thought it wouldn’t work. Today we learned about St. Lucia Day; the Swedish Christmas tradition that celebrates St. Lucia for her bravery, strong faith, and generosity.
